One email, and it says whether the flue is sound
Request the inspection
Enter the address and who should get the report in the form, and we will respond.
What arrives and who opens it
One message, with a written report and a folder of photos. It lands the same day as the visit.
You pick the readers: buyer, seller, either agent, any mix.
Three questions the report answers
A fireplace can hurt a household in two quiet ways. It can feed a fire, or it can let fumes into a room. So the report is built around three plain questions.
- How much creosote has built up inside the flue, and can it burn?
- Is the liner whole, or are there cracks where gas could slip through?
- Does smoke go up the way it should, or does it hang in the firebox?
Why the camera matters
A Level 1 looks only at the accessible parts, by eye. It cannot see a split in a liner high up the flue, far from the hearth.
A Level 2 sends a camera down the full flue, and it adds the accessible attic, crawlspace and roof sections. That is the level NFPA 211 points to at a sale or transfer.
If the report lists a problem
We name the hazard, say how it happens, and say what fixes it. Nothing is wrapped in alarm. A listed item is a condition that sits below the standard in NFPA 211 or the city's building rules, so it should be repaired before anyone lights the fireplace.
From there the buyer can ask the seller for work, a credit, or another visit from us. That conversation belongs to the buyer, the seller and their agents. Contract questions are outside our work. Harborview covers Long Beach, Lomita, Torrance and Gardena, as well as Rancho Palos Verdes and Los Angeles.
Cost of the inspection
The Level 2 is $380. The Level 1 is $53.
- Visual Level 1
- $53
- Level 2 chimney inspection
- $380
The video scan is part of the Level 2 only.
Sale questions
Is creosote always a problem?
Some build-up is normal in a flue that has been used. The report says how much there is and whether it needs removing.
Can the scan find carbon monoxide?
The camera looks for cracks and gaps in the liner where gas could pass. It is not a gas meter, and the report does not claim to be one.
Is this a government pass or fail?
No. It is a documented inspection.
